HOW WE RECEIVE MANTLES
DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: 1 Kings 18 – 19
1 Kings 19:19 (KJV): So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
When Elisha went out to plough oxen, he had not planned to meet Elijah. But he was led by God to stand on the very path that Elijah would take. The right position earned him a mantle as the chariot and horsemen of Israel (2 Kings 13:14).
The late Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke narrates how he took numerous buses on a sightseeing whim through London. He ended up, unknowingly, at the home of the Evangelist George Jeffreys whom he had never met. When he was admitted inside the home, the man of God asked him to kneel and prayed for him. The next day after Ev. Reinhard left London, he heard that George Jeffreys had died. In his own words, Evangelist Reinhard said he ‘caught a mantle.’
The lesson from these examples is that mantles find positioned men.
Your part is to UNDERSTAND THE MANY WAYS IN WHICH PEOPLE GET POSITIONED SPIRITUALLY.
Service to God, submission to spiritual authority and a consistent life of prayer are some of the ways children of God get positioned.
