IN THE NAMING OF THINGS
DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 23 – 24, 1 Chronicles 21 – 22
1 Chronicles 22:9 (KJV); Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
Shalom, the root Word for King Solomon’s name in Hebrew means peace. God had purposed that Solomon would reign in peace in his days as king. As such, he instructed David that his son would be named Solomon.
This reveals to us that destinies are aligned in the naming of things. For this reason, a child of God cannot take naming for granted.
Some parents are very careless with what they name their children. They take liberties with their children’s futures when they give names that point to gloom and doom.
Some businessmen are careless about how they name their businesses. They dream too small and brand their businesses with the smallness of their visions.
Some men of God are careless with what they name their ministries. There are ministries that have been branded with identities that are contrary to spiritual truth.
Certain struggles in life happen for no other reason than because the names of businesses, children or ministries frustrate the destinies of their owners.
By wisdom, you should choose godly names for your children, business or ministry or any of your creations.

🙌PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. Thank You because this wisdom works in my life. I know that naming is a rite of passage. I understand that names shape spiritual identities. I choose to have godly names for my ideas, my children and my creations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
