BRAVE HEARTS

DAILY DEVOTION

Today’s Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 13 – 14

1 Samuel 14:52(KJV); And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he took him unto him.

Saul chose men into his army by how strong they looked. Any man who seemed battleworthy and had the muscles to show for it became an immediate candidate for the army.

But armies are not built by strong muscles, they are built by strong hearts. It is the braveness of the heart that wins wars.

Look at David. He did not have any of the attractions of muscle. He wasn’t toweringly tall and did not have the stature of a warrior. Goliath, a battle-hardened hulk of a man, took one look at him and sneered (1 Samuel 17:42).

David may have looked like the underdog in the bulldog fight but he was brave at heart.

See the language of this brave heart! David says to Goliath, “This very day GOD is handing you over to me. I’m about to kill you, cut off your head, and serve up your body and the bodies of your Philistine buddies to the crows and coyotes. The whole earth will know that there’s an extraordinary God in Israel.” (1 Samuel 17:46 MSG).

Child of God, take a leaf from David’s war book. Understand that victory has nothing to do with how you look, your position in society, people’s opinions of you or even how strong your enemy appears. Victory has everything to do with how strong you are at heart. Our bravery is of the spirit and not of the flesh.

Make the choice to walk with your head high. Do not allow circumstances to intimidate you, do the intimidating even if it may appear like all the odds are against you. God is in you. You are a brave heart!

Hallelujah!

💡KNOW MORE: 1 John 4:4, Proverbs 24:10

⭐HIGHLIGHT: Victory has everything to do with how strong you are at heart. Our bravery is of the spirit and not of the flesh.

🙌PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. I know who I am and whose I am. I refuse to cower before challenges because I am bold in spirit. I refuse to tremble before adversity because You are strong in me. My victory is always guaranteed because You are for me and in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
