WHEN GOD FIGHTS
DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: Judges 12 – 15
Judges 7:2-3(AMP); The Lord said to Gideon, The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel boast about themselves against Me, saying, My own hand has delivered me. So now proclaim in the ears of the men, saying, Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him turn back and depart from Mount Gilead. And 22,000 of the men returned, but 10,000 remained.
In spiritual warfare, the first thing to lose must be fear.
It doesn’t matter how big your army is, if you are surrounded by fear, you are bound to be defeated.
Look at Gideon and his army. He thought he had warriors ready for battle, men who were daring enough to face whatsoever would come their way on the battlefield.
Alas!
He posed the question of who was afraid and fearful and he lost twenty-two thousand men in one go.
The lesson from Gideon’s experience translates into many areas of our Christian life.
Some people seem so enamoured: they have the physical strength, the academic qualifications and the connections to achieve but wrapped up in all these external strengths is the spirit of fear. Some times, fear is so hidden that what we have physically blinds us to its presence.
If you are ever faced with any negative situation, a daunting task or a scary enemy, deal with any form of fear in your spirit before you take on that issue.
This you do by meditating on God’s love revealed in Christ, acknowledging everything that has been given you in him, and by reminding your spirit that your victory was finished at Calvary.
Hallelujah!
