HEARING GOD IN PRAYER

HEARING GOD IN PRAYER
Deuteronomy 4:36 (KJV); Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
In prayer, we have to ensure that we are listening to God and not merely talking to Him.
One of the ways to listen to Him is to actually create moments to hear Him.
The mistake that a number of Christians make is to speak and speak and speak. Just when God is about to start speaking, they end the prayer and go off to do other things.
It is okay to speak in tongues for as long as you can but after you are done speaking, you must make time to listen to God.
How does one grow in this practice?
The starting place is to have moments of silence even in prayer. If your prayer life is full of what you have to say to God, it is most likely that you are not listening to Him.
Your prayer life should be more than an opportunity for you to talk. There should be moments where you are simply silent.
It is these silent moments that give God an opportunity to speak.
May this wisdom shape your life of prayer.
