WHEN GOD TEACHES
Numbers 20:11-12 (KJV); And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
Moses’ primary place of teaching was in Egypt. However, he cut his preparation short when, in anger, he killed a man and buried him in the sand (Exodus 2:12). Consequently, he fled into the wilderness to escape Pharaoh’s anger and judgment. It was not God’s plan for Moses to leave Egypt at that point in time.
The subsequent forty years in the wilderness were meant to continue his preparation, albeit, outside the boundaries of what God had intended as his primary training ground. After all, if he could not handle dealing with men, then his training could only be continued with sheep (Exodus 3:1).
But what can sheep teach a man in the ways of leading men?
From our study of the scriptures, we realize that even these forty years were wasted. Moses never learnt to let go of his anger and that same anger eventually denied him entry into the Promised Land.
Moses’ story teaches us a fundamental lesson in how God deals with men. Preparation is very important to God and when we abuse the opportunities that preparation avails for our growth and maturity, we miss out on participating in God’s bigger plans.
It is in the wisdom of God not to give you what your heart is not prepared for. As believers, we must consistently examine ourselves, ask soul searching questions and allow God to reveal to us what we might be missing in our places of preparation.
Hallelujah!

🙌PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this knowledge. Thank You for Your Spirit that is working in me every day. I understand and recognize my places of preparation and learn everything I must learn in the moments You have set apart for my training. I know that You have equipped me for divine purpose and when opportunity knocks, I will not be a cake half turned, but I will be ready, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
