Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Kings 9 – 10
2 Kings 5:10-12(KJV); And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
Naaman, the subject of our theme scripture, was a great man in Syria. However, he was a leper. He came to Elisha the prophet for healing and was greatly annoyed by the instruction to go and wash himself in the river Jordan. The Bible says he turned and went away in a rage.
What was Naaman’s real problem?
He expected God to work on his terms. He wanted his healing to happen by Elisha waving his hand over the diseased spot and getting rid of the disease.
Today, there are many Christians like Naaman. They have failed to receive healing for their bodies, breakthroughs in their relationships or achieve growth in their ministries because they have preconceived ideas of how God ought to work.
The Lord is God! When He instructs you on how something should be done, you must heed no matter how unreasonable it appears. It is in obedience, even to the absurd, that many have found deliverance. Never walk away from your miracle because it did not come on the day you expected, through the person you expected or the method you expected. Always do things God’s way.
