A LOVER OF GOD’S PRESENCE
DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: Psalm 27 – 32
A LOVER OF GOD’S PRESENCE
Psalm 27:4(KJV): One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.
Beloved of God, I want you to think about this for a moment: What did David find in the presence of God that could compel him to make the kind of confession in our theme scripture?
You might think his words are merely a psalm but they are the heart’s cry of a man who was genuinely hungry for God.
The Contemporary English version CEV) makes his desire even more vivid. It says, “I ask only one thing, Lord: Let me live in your house every day of my life to see how wonderful you are and to pray in your temple.”
How can a man wish to spend his entire life beholding the beauty of God?
The answer is that David found something in God’s presence that dimmed all the attractions of the outside world.
The challenge with most Christians today is that they go to God to take, never to find Him. What makes the presence attractive are the places and glories He reveals as you commune with Him. A man who experiences these depths will keep returning to the Lord’s presence, he cannot help it.
Few men enjoy the depth of this experience consistently. But today, God is inviting you into the kind of communion you will never want to leave.
Simply ACCEPT THE INVITATION. You will always find yourself lingering in His presence with no desire to return to the rest of the world. Hallelujah!
