CELEBRATING PAST VICTORIES
DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 20 – 21
1 Samuel 21:8-9(KJV); And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste. And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
The context of our theme scripture is that David was on the run, fleeing for his life from Saul.
When he reached the city of Nob where he found Ahimelech, he requested for a sword and the only available weapon was the sword of Goliath which David had used to slay the Philistine champion.
There is a lesson herein as to why the symbol of one of David’s greatest victories is the only weapon available at this point in time.
You must understand that God furthers our victories in life when we rehearse the experiences in the past in which we defeated the enemy. There is power in testifying of past successes. This is a fundamental source of strength for future victories.
Our testimonies give us the confidence to see ourselves as not just conquerors, but more than conquerors through Christ because they are reminders of how we triumphed before. They are what gives us the boldness to look any situation straight in the eye and know that the God who delivered us before will deliver us again.
Hallelujah!

🙌PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I thank You for past triumphs, of the hurdles that I have overcome, the storms I have endured and the battles I have won. You stood with me before and You stand with me again; You fought for me before and fight for me again. With this knowledge, I stand firm against all manner of circumstances, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
