THE LAW OF PREPARATION I
Exodus 2:11-12 (KJV): And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
God is available to help you in your journey of preparation. However, it is possible to frustrate His will in preparing you.
Take the example of Moses. He was God’s chosen vessel to deliver the children of Israel out of captivity in Egypt. His preparation involved being raised in the royal palace as a son of the daughter of Pharaoh and getting skilled in all the wisdom of the Egyptians (Acts 7:22).
He aborted his preparation process when he, out of anger, killed an Egyptian man and hid his body in the sand. In this, he expressed what Paul in Romans 10:2 referred to as zeal without knowledge.
It was not God’s intention for Moses to deliver any Israelite through shedding the blood of an Egyptian man. God’s plan for deliverance did not involve a single Jew raising a sword.
Having understood that God had chosen him, Moses needed to yield to the Spirit of God and understand HOW the deliverance was supposed to be done. If he had done so, he would not have lost another forty years in the wilderness, in ‘God’s anger management class’.
The lesson to you, child of God is to firstly recognise it when you are under preparation by the Spirit. Maximise the moments and lessons available from God during this phase of your life. Allow the Spirit to be your ultimate guide in how you should execute the purposes of God.
Praise Him!
