OF FINDING A MARRIAGE MATE II
Genesis 28:6 KJV When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
Previously, we understood that marriage is God’s institution, and a successful marriage can only be built and sustained by His wisdom. But what then is our part?
To Parents: Let us commit our children to a covenant with God concerning their future spouses. Pray that your children will never marry the wrong person and that the wicked or unreasonable will be far from them.
To Men: Focus on discovering and fulfilling your God-given purpose on earth. As you serve your purpose, God will bring you a wife. A good wife is not defined by race, color, education, or nationality, but by God’s choice. Scripture says, “…a prudent wife is from the Lord” (Proverbs 19:14 KJV). Only God can give a wise and understanding wife.
To Ladies: Become a woman, your mate will find you. “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22, NKJV). It is not Scriptural for a woman to look for a man; it is the man who finds the woman. Notice that Scripture says, “He who finds a wife,” not a girl. It’s not about outward beauty alone; when you are made a wife on the inside, it will show on the outside. But if you try to project outward what you are not inwardly, it will only frustrate your position of being found.
To Men of God: I’ve heard some ministers say, “I’ll be joining a couple this weekend.” Yet Scripture is clear, only God joins a couple. The Church’s role is to witness what God has already joined. “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mark 10:9). Do due diligence to ensure that what you witness is truly what God has joined to guard the purity of the Body of Christ.
To the Married: Keep God at the center of everything. Firstly, each spouse should have an intimate personal altar with God, and then a reconciled marital and family altar of praying together with your spouse and children every day. If you’re intimate with God, you will also be intimate with your spouse; if you struggle with intimacy with God, you will also struggle to be intimate with your spouse as well.
