YOUR SHIELD

DAILY DEVOTION
Today’s Bible Reading: Genesis 15 – 17

YOUR SHIELD

Genesis 15:1 KJV After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

We live in a world where we are taught to defend ourselves with credentials, bank accounts, education, and other forms of human security. By these things, people fight and protect themselves. However, when the fiery darts of the enemy such as accidents, failure, and sickness come, self-defenses are destroyed, because only the shield of God through faith never fails.

The Hebrew word shield in this Scripture is mâgên, which means protector. When things happen to us, it is human instinct to try to protect ourselves, just as Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves. Yet God was never meant to be replaced as our protector; He has always intended to be your shield. As a Father—from whom all fatherhood is derived—it is His mission to protect His children at all costs.

God is working so mightily on your behalf that your enemies will not only leave you alone but will even rejoice when you are no longer in their midst.

God has the power to make what once intimidated you become intimidated by you.

Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

A man’s enemies pursue peace with him not because they like or respect him, but because they fear what his God can do if they oppose him.

Today, I remind you that God is on your side. He fights for you! What once caused you anxiety will now be anxious about you. What you once feared will begin to fear you. Hallelujah!

⭐ HIGHLIGHT: God is on your side. He fights for you! What once caused you anxiety will now be anxious about you. What you once feared will begin to fear you.

🙌 PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. You are my shield and my defense in every situation. I find rest and confidence in You, knowing that You are the God who fights my battles. I walk in boldness, assured that no enemy can stand against me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
